When I was leaving my internship last summer at The Grove, Susan informed me that she would be more than happy to bring me along to the National Needlearts Association Tradeshow the following February!
I was so excited about this opportunity because the tradeshow is really only open to designers and retailers! So last February, I drove myself over to San Diego to tag along with Susan and Judy to Long Beach.
We received our badges (I was pretty ecstatic that it read that I was a retailer for The Grove! Obviously it had to, but still!) and show materials to navigate the different booths. We sat down and made a game plan of the booths Susan absolutely needed to visit. So many names I recognized! This truly was a fiber high if I ever felt one.
Apparently, this show was a lot smaller and didn’t have as many people attending as in previous years. That was a little sad to see, but that didn’t stop us from gawking at all the beautiful colors and touching all the amazing yarn and fiber! I also found it very exciting that I knew some of the reps from some of the yarn companies from when they came into the shop last summer.

We made it through the show in a couple of hours and by the end of it, we were all pretty tired. Who knew looking at yarn was so exhausting!
I want to thank Susan ever so much for bringing me along to the show. I hope that the show continues successfully so that I might be able to return…maybe if I have my own shop in the future? Who knows!
Whoo, boy! This semester has become quite busy as it comes to a close! Here is a little snippet of how the show opening went.
My work up on the wall!
This woman is the best mentor and professor anyone could ask for. I’m so blessed to have been able to study under such a wonderful lady!
Fibers loves Clare!
It was a very joyous night for the eight of us in the show. Many people stopped by to check out what was a very successful show for the Fibers department at ASU!

So I suppose this blog is a year old. Happy birthday to….it? Me?
This image is clearly how I feel right now. This is the last semester of my college career and the question “What are you going to do after you graduate?” continuously pops up in conversation. The image says it all: “I have no fucking clue what the hell I’m going to do after graduation (but beer and snacks help).”
I apologize for not updating last semester. Things got in the way. I really hope to plan a post on everything I made during Fall of 2012. I also plan to post on my recent adventure to The National Needlearts Association Tradeshow that I attended last weekend!
Hopefully as I ease into this semester more I will be able to post more and post in progress images of my projects I’m working on. My Senior Exhibition class this semester should aid in getting myself more motivated to write and keep you updated on my artist life.
I forgot to announce on here about the 3rd Annual ASU Fiber Club show (or FAN, the Fiber Art Network), In Stitches! It is located in the Step Gallery between Sacks and Gallery 100. The reception was last night and it had a wonderful turn out! The show will remain in the Step Gallery until this Friday, March 2.
